Heart of Korea

Evolo Syscraper Competition—Demilitarized Zone, Korea

Design Team: Rita Doummar, Michelle Morsicato, Katarina Wabrek, Jorge Somaariba, Steven Prestejohn & Jessi Jacobowitz

Located within the fortified no-man’s land that divides North from South, the Heart of Korea symbolizes and celebrates the values of each separated nation, while giving momentum to a growing détente. By populating the uninhabitable Demilitarized Zone, the skyscraper facilitates the reunion of fragmented families. It serves as a forum for social and cultural exchange to remedy the estranged sentiment towards the opposing countries. A neutral ground, the tower will be the homeland for the generationally divided and allow for a newly found bond among people.

Reef Intelligence

Warming Competition— Siteless

Design Team: Allie Leonard, Steven Paquette, Jorge Somaariba, Stefanie Theall, Megan Downing & Jessi Jacobowitz

While our planet has provided us with beauty and natural resources since the beginning of time, humans have evolved and used technology in a way that has threatened the environment. How can we begin to reverse the effects of our damage and regenerate what has been lost? REEF INTELLIGENCE begins with our oceans and coastlines. By harnessing wave energy and using artificial intelligence, the biomimetic technology has the ability to replicate existing ecosystems and regenerate them into fruitful shorelines for plants, animals, and people.
